Doug Edworthy, our Tree Warden had been “signed off” for a while due to a back problem, but has now been cleared to start taking his popular walks around Dallington Forest. The first one is Sunday July 12th. Contact Doug directly to book a place and he will, by return, let you now time and place to meet. Dates for September 12th and November 15th will be confirmed nearer the time.
East walk has a duration of about 2-3 hours over rough surfaces, lots of hills and some scrambles up banks so good mobility is essential, also footwear to cope with sometimes muddy, slippery surfaces. Well behaved dogs welcome on a lead, providing owners look after them and take the poo out of the forest. There was an explanation of why this is important in the Brightling section of the Messenger, March edition. Be aware of ticks, too, so clothing to cope with that as well (see, again, the March Messenger).
